About Payment Gateway Africa
Payment Gateway Africa is a payment gateway for merchants and platforms that sell to customers in seven African markets. We connect your checkout to the local wallets and transfer methods those customers already use. You manage it all through one integration and one commercial relationship.
Why Payment Gateway Africa Exists
In many African markets, customers pay with mobile wallets and local transfers rather than the methods global checkouts assume. A business entering several of these markets can end up running a separate integration, contract and reconciliation process for each country.
Our aim is to replace that patchwork with a single route. As an African payment gateway, Payment Gateway Africa handles collections from customers, processing and payouts where available. You connect once and add markets as your business grows.
We keep the scope narrow on purpose. We focus on local payment methods in a defined set of countries, and we describe them plainly. We do not stretch our offer to cover services we do not provide.
The Markets We Serve Today
Payment Gateway Africa currently covers seven countries in three regions. Each country has its own currency and its own set of supported methods. For a side-by-side view, see the directory of countries we cover.
East Africa. In Kenya, customers pay in KES with M-Pesa. In Ethiopia, customers pay in ETB through CBE Birr, M-Pesa (Ethiopia) and local transfers.
North Africa. In Egypt, customers pay in EGP using mobile wallets linked to their phone numbers. In Tunisia, customers pay in TND with D17 and Flouci.
West Africa. In Senegal, customers pay in XOF with Wave and Orange Money. In Mali, they pay in XOF with Wave, Orange Money and Moov Money. In Guinea, they pay in GNF with Orange Money.

What the Gateway Handles
Payment Gateway Africa handles three distinct money movements, and we keep them apart in both reporting and conversation.
Pay-ins are payments your customers make to you through a local method.
Payouts are transfers from you to your customers. They are offered where available for the method and project.
Settlement is the step where the funds you collect are paid out to you. Payment Gateway Africa dispatches your settlement funds the same day (T+0). That timing refers to when we send the money; how long your bank takes to post it to your account can vary.
Our overall transaction success rate is 85%, measured as successful transactions divided by all transactions. This is a figure for the product as a whole. It is not a promise for any single country or method.
For details on how these operations are quoted, see how our pricing works.
How We Work with Merchants
Integration. You can connect to Payment Gateway Africa in two ways. The first is a server-to-server H2H API. The second is a Hosted Payment Page that your customers are redirected to. Both are ways to connect to the same gateway, not separate products. The integration guide explains the differences, and the developer documentation covers the full setup.
Status updates. Postbacks and webhooks tell your systems the outcome of each transaction, so your orders stay accurate. These notifications go to you, the merchant. We do not send separate messages to your customers.
Onboarding. Every merchant goes through a business verification review before going live. Our AML and KYC requirements explain what we ask for and why. Our security practices page sets out what we are responsible for and what you are responsible for.
Growth. Merchants already working with Payment Gateway Africa can activate additional supported payment methods without a connection surcharge. Their connection price stays the same however many methods they use. For existing clients, enabling a method we already support can often be done within one day.
Principles We Hold Ourselves To
We describe our coverage exactly as it is. If a method or market is not on our list, we say so rather than imply otherwise.
We treat pay-ins, payouts and settlement as separate flows, so you always know which money is moving and in which direction.
We share figures only when we can stand behind them. Pricing is quoted for each project rather than published as generic rates.
Working Together
If your target markets are on our list, the quickest route is to apply to start processing. For questions about markets or methods first, contact our team and tell us where you sell.
Questions about Payment Gateway Africa
Which countries does Payment Gateway Africa support?
We support Kenya, Egypt, Ethiopia, Senegal, Tunisia, Mali and Guinea. The countries directory lists the currency and methods for each one.
Does Payment Gateway Africa offer payouts in every market?
Payouts are offered where available for the method and project. We confirm availability during onboarding.
What does T+0 settlement mean at Payment Gateway Africa?
We send merchant settlements on the same day. That is the day we send the funds, not a guarantee of when they arrive in your account.
Do I need a new integration for each country?
No. You connect once, through the H2H API or the Hosted Payment Page, and use that same connection for the supported markets activated for your project. The integration guide explains both options.
Is there a charge to add more payment methods later?
No. Existing merchants can add supported methods at no extra connection fee, and the number of methods you enable does not change the connection price.
