PRICING · PER-PROJECT PROPOSAL

Payment Gateway Africa Pricing: A Quote Shaped by Your Project

Payment Gateway Africa does not publish a fixed rate card. Each merchant receives a written proposal that sets the terms for collections, customer payouts and merchant settlement in the markets they choose. This page explains what is priced, which factors move the numbers and how to request your own proposal.

Rates are agreed per project and set out in your written proposal.

Three Operations, Priced as Separate Lines

Payment Gateway Africa is a payment gateway in Africa that handles three distinct money movements. Each one is described separately in your proposal because each follows its own path and has its own cost logic.

Pay-ins. These are payments your customers make to you through a local method, such as M-Pesa in Kenya, Wave or Orange Money in Senegal, or D17 and Flouci in Tunisia. The full method list for each market is on the countries we cover page.

Payouts. These are transfers from your project to your own customers, for example refunds, winnings or marketplace earnings. Payouts are offered where available for the method and project, so your proposal states exactly which routes include them.

Settlement. This is the transfer of your accumulated balance from Payment Gateway Africa to you, the merchant. Merchant settlements use same-day dispatch (T+0), meaning Payment Gateway Africa releases the funds on the day itself. This timing covers dispatch only. Bank posting times vary, so when the money appears in your account depends on your bank or receiving provider.

Keeping these three lines apart lets you see what each part of your payment operation costs, instead of reading one blended figure.

Factors That Move Your Numbers

Terms are set per project and recorded in the proposal you sign. The main inputs we review are listed below.

Markets. Which of the seven countries you need: Kenya, Egypt, Ethiopia, Senegal, Tunisia, Mali or Guinea. Each market has its own set of local payment methods.

Methods. Which wallets and local transfer options you want enabled in each market. The mobile money payment methods page explains how mobile money payments work in an online checkout.

Operation mix. Whether you need pay-ins only or also payouts, and how you expect volume to split between them.

Expected volume and transaction profile. Your projected monthly volume and typical payment sizes help us shape terms that fit your business.

Business model and review outcome. What you sell and how your platform operates are assessed during merchant verification, described on our AML and KYB requirements page.

Connection type. You can connect through the Hosted Payment Page or directly via H2H API. Both are ways to connect to the same gateway; the integration guide explains the difference.

Growing Your Method List Without a Connection Charge

Existing merchants can activate additional supported payment methods without any connection surcharge. Your connection price stays the same however many methods you enable.

For a merchant already live with Payment Gateway Africa, switching on a method that is already supported can often be completed within one day. If you start in Kenya with M-Pesa and later want Ethiopian customers to pay with CBE Birr or M-Pesa (Ethiopia), the extra method does not raise your connection price.

This applies to methods we already support. It does not mean free onboarding, zero transaction terms or a fixed timeline for new merchants. Processing terms for any new method or market are still agreed in your proposal.

What Sits Behind the Proposal

Every project includes status updates sent to your backend through postbacks and webhooks, so your order records reflect each payment result. These notifications go to you, the merchant; Payment Gateway Africa does not send separate notifications to your customers.

Our overall transaction success rate is 85%, measured as successful transactions divided by all transactions. This is a product-wide figure, not a per-country or per-method result.

Controls that protect your account and your customers are outlined on our security overview.

Getting Your Proposal in Three Steps

1. Tell us about the project. Share your markets, preferred methods, expected monthly volume and whether you need payouts. The get started form collects all of this in one place.

2. Complete merchant verification. We review your business under our KYB process. The documents you provide help us confirm which routes and operations fit your project.

3. Review and sign. You receive a written proposal covering pay-ins, payouts where available and T+0 settlement. Once it is agreed, you move to a test project and then to go-live.

Pricing questions

Why doesn't Payment Gateway Africa publish a rate card?

Terms depend on your markets, methods, operation mix, volume and the outcome of merchant review. A single public figure would not reflect most projects, so each merchant receives a written proposal instead.

Are pay-ins, payouts and settlement priced together?

No. They are separate flows and appear as separate lines in your proposal: customer payments to you, transfers from you to your customers, and settlement of your balance to your account.

What does T+0 settlement mean in practice?

Payment Gateway Africa settles merchants with same-day dispatch (T+0). This refers to when the funds leave Payment Gateway Africa. Bank posting times vary, so crediting to your account may take longer.

Will adding a new method increase my connection price?

No, not for existing merchants. You can activate additional supported payment methods without a connection surcharge, and your connection price stays the same regardless of how many methods are enabled. Switching on a method we already support can often be completed within one day.

Are payouts included for every method?

Payouts are offered where available for the method and project. Your proposal lists which routes in your markets include them.

Does the connection type affect my terms?

It can be part of the discussion. Hosted Payment Page and H2H API both connect you to the same gateway. See the integration guide to decide which fits your stack.

How do I start the pricing conversation?

Submit your project details through the get started form. After merchant verification you will receive a written proposal to review.
